Dutchman Frans Keuken has been building Baby Bugattis in his shed for over 20 years
In 1926, famous car manufacturer Ettore Bugatti built the very first Baby Bugatti. This iconic design, was a smaller replica of the legendary Bugatti Type 35, a racing car that achieved great success on circuits worldwide. Ettore originally designed the Baby Bugatti as a gift for his son, a gesture that quickly became legendary in the automotive world. More than sixty years later, a similar story took place in the Netherlands. Frans Keuken has been building Baby Bugattis for 20 years, in his own shed.
Frans Keuken, a passionate car enthusiast and craftsman, decided to build a replica of the Baby Bugatti for his own son in 1990. His son asked for a simple soapbox, but Keuken took this request very seriously and got to work on a special creation. The first model was far from perfect, with, for example, a steering wheel that he
made himself from rope. Yet this early design laid the foundation for what would later become an impressive piece of craftsmanship.
Over the years, Frans Keuken has perfected his skills and refined his designs down to the smallest detail. Combining old-world craftsmanship with modern techniques, his Baby Bugatti replicas are both functional and visually stunning. Each vehicle features a detailed working dashboard, carefully crafted lighting and beautifully crafted rims. Even the technical aspects, such as the combustion engines and electric motors, have
been optimized to provide a reliable and smooth driving experience.
If I'm not mistaken, one of Frans' creations was offered for sale recently at the Interclassics car show in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
